Follow the jungle trail to one of the most impressive waterfalls

The Cataratas de Nauyaca captivate as a double waterfall near Uvita in the south of Costa Rica. The upper fall plunges a good 45 metres into the depth, the lower one forms an extensive natural pool up to six metres deep – ideal for swimming. Several viewpoints offer perspectives of both falls, including a small cave in the rock for a view of the upper tier. The surrounding rainforest creates an intense, unspoilt nature experience and makes the waterfall feel pleasantly removed from larger visitor crowds.

From the car park of Nauyaca Waterfall Nature Park a well-maintained jungle trail leads roughly 2.7 kilometres mostly downhill to the waterfalls. The family-friendly route is moderate and, if needed, a 4×4 shuttle saves you the majority of the way. From the ranch you continue over secured wooden walkways and stairs to the upper and lower pools. The paths are clearly signposted, making orientation on site straightforward. The peaceful atmosphere and well-kept facilities make it worth staying longer, and the place is equally well suited for a half-day trip.
