How to identify Namib rock agama
The Namib rock agama is a lizard with a strikingly flattened body and a long tail. Its basic colour varies from sandy grey to olive brown and blends in with its surroundings. Males display brightly orange heads in the mating season, while females remain inconspicuously yellowish to grey.
With a total length of about 25 centimetres and a slender silhouette, the Namib rock agama is easy to spot on sun-warmed rocks. The scales look rough and the animals often have dark spots along the back. Large eyes and strong limbs are typical of these rocky habitat specialists.
