Dive into the stories behind the works of Elton Mugomo

Elton Mugomo is an artist from Zimbabwe who has been living in Swakopmund for years and captures the essence of Namibia in his works. His paintings range from colourful, lively depictions of everyday Namibian life to elegant, minimalist black-and-white sketches of wildlife. Not only does each of his works tell a story, Elton himself also loves to talk about his daily life, his adventures and his experiences. He is always up for a chat.

At the “Artist Arcade” in the heart of Swakopmund you can experience Elton and his art up close. He is always happy to talk and shares the inspiring stories behind his pieces. Whether collages, colourful acrylic paintings or minimalist sketches – Elton brings Namibia to the canvas. While you browse through his pictures, Elton will give you all sorts of tips about Swakopmund. You can also visit his neighbouring stallholder Wellington, who creates cute beaded animals. The atmosphere is relaxed and far less pushy than at the other markets.

The artists in the Artist Arcade are there every day from 10am to 5.30pm, except Sundays. Allow at least half an hour to immerse yourself in the world of Elton Mugomo. It combines perfectly with a stroll through Swakopmund’s pedestrian zone. And don’t forget: Elton is always happy to get greetings from “Vanessa” – a sure-fire icebreaker!
