Dombo Hippo Pool is a shallow lake that is regularly frequented by hippopotamus. From a hide on the shore you can watch the animals from an elevated position. It makes a pleasant change, as you can get out of the vehicle. As well as hippopotamus you can also spot pied kingfishers and African fish eagles hunting for fish over the water.

Dombo Hippo Pool lies on the route from Xakanaxa to North Gate and is well suited for a breakfast stop. You can park right next to the hide and from there it is only a few steps to the covered viewing platform. The spot is easy to reach and offers a good opportunity to get out of the vehicle and experience the surroundings from a different perspective. Ideal for a longer break with views over the water.
