Treat yourself to a relaxed safari breakfast after a successful morning game drive

Start your day with a morning game drive along the southern bank of the Khwai and enjoy a safari breakfast at a viewpoint overlooking a vast floodplain.

From North Gate a track runs along the southern bank of the Khwai. After the track bends and continues further north-east, you reach a wide floodplain. Here the track loops around a tree island and gives you a beautiful view over the area, where you can watch lechwe and zebras. This viewpoint is ideal for a safari breakfast.

Lechwe, which are frequently found in this area, have a unique escape strategy perfectly adapted to their wet habitat. When threatened they flee into the water and use a pronounced bounding movement, lifting their hind legs high enough to clear the water’s surface. If the water is too deep to run, they swim instead with powerful strokes.

Head out on safari early in the morning at sunrise and take everything you need for a typical safari breakfast with you in the cab. Our recommendation: coffee in a thermos flask and rusks. Enjoy breakfast at the viewpoint while you take in the peaceful morning atmosphere and watch the wildlife.
