Explore the open Kalahari and its wildlife on the Deception Loop

Explore Deception Valley on a track where you will rarely meet another vehicle and which is ideal for wildlife watching. The landscape, typical of the Central Kalahari, is largely open with only the occasional cluster of trees.

The open plain is perfect for spotting honey badgers. These fearless predators are excellent diggers and use their powerful claws to reach rodents or insects in the soil. They also dig for roots and tubers. The area is also well suited to watching giraffes nibbling the upper leaves of the trees.

A track leads out onto the open plain, loops round at the end and returns. The Deception Loop lies in Deception Valley and is not far from the Kori Campsites, which makes it ideal for spending the morning or afternoon there.
