About Nambwa Campsite

Safari adventure in the heart of the Caprivi Strip

Nambwa Campsite is set in the middle of the untouched Bwabwata National Park in the Caprivi Strip, one of Namibia’s most wildlife-rich areas. Here you camp in absolute wilderness, surrounded by elephants, hippopotamus and a fascinating variety of birdlife. The campsite is the only one within the national park and offers an authentic safari experience in a unique river landscape.

Why Nambwa Campsite?

  • Self-drive friendly – With your own 4x4 vehicle you can head out on a self-drive safari or book a boat trip on the river.

Your accommodation

Nambwa Campsite has only four campsites. The campsite is located in the heart of Bwabwata National Park and is the only one within the park.

All campsites are surrounded by trees and are close to the Long Lagoon.

Campsites no. 1 and 2 offer the most privacy and views over the floodplain. Campsites no. 3 and 4 can be seen by passing campers but are slightly larger.

All campsites are generously laid out and have a large, shady roof. The roof is big enough for you to park your car underneath. There is also a kitchenette with plenty of worktop space, two sinks and light.

On the opposite side you will find the bathroom. Here there is a toilet, two washbasins and a shower. Hot water is provided by a donkey boiler.

Power sockets and a USB charging point are also available.

There is also a campfire area with seating.

The campsite was built using recycled materials such as glass bottles.

Nambwa Campsite moved in April 2023 and is now located near the Long Lagoon. The campsite is now set away from the lodge.

As the campsite is not fenced, all animals can walk through the camp. During our stay we were visited by an elephant.
