Hike to the waterfall and swim in the clear pool

In the tropical rainforest at the foot of the Arenal volcano, a natural spectacle awaits you that appeals to all the senses. The mighty La Fortuna waterfall plunges from a height of over 70 metres into a clear pool, surrounded by vibrant greenery and the roar of the river. Even the path there gives you a change of perspective as you soak up the vegetation and the smell of the jungle.

You reach the waterfall via around 500 steps that wind down into the valley and lead you, step by step, away from everyday life. At the bottom, an invigorating swim in the natural pool beneath the crashing water awaits you. The atmosphere is powerful and calming at the same time, with the fine mist settling on your skin. If you visit early in the morning, you can experience the power and tranquillity of this special place almost entirely to yourself.
